Start by scooping the soy wax into your mason jars (or other glass jar of choice). Pack it down really good and squeeze as much in as you can! My crockpot held seven mason jars at one time, so I went ahead filled all seven jars with the wax.
Boil water on the stove top and pour the boiling water into the crockpot. Place all the jars into the crockpot. You want the water to be about 1/2 to 3/4 up the jars. Place the lid on and turn the crockpot to high. Leave them for about 1 hour.
At this point, your wax should be fairly melted. You want to add more soy wax and pack it down again. I used my 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop the wax and push it down in to the jar. Fill it up as much as you can. Replace the lid to the crockpot and cook for another 45 min.
Once the wax is completely melted (it will be clear), VERY carefully remove them from the crockpot. I used an oven mitt as they are very hot. Mix 1 tablespoon of liquid coconut oil with 50-60 drops of essential oil for each candle. Dump this mixture into the melted wax. (Just a heads up, essential oil candles are not nearly as potent as store bought candles so go heavy with the EO if you like a stronger scent!)
Lower the wick into the melted wax until the round metal disc is flat on the bottom of the jar. I used mechanical pencils to clip the wick and hold them in place while my wax returned to room temperature.
The wax will slowly return to room temperature and turn white again. Once it is room temp, clip the wick with sharp scissors to the desired height and enjoy!
What are your favorite combinations of essential oils? Leave me a note in the comments below and I’ll try it out next time I make a batch of candles!

Can you do this with the small tins for travel candles?

Hi Rebecca! I’m sure this would work just fine. I would just watch the tins closely in the crockpot as the wax melt time might be different. Let me know how it goes! Good luck!
