Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats

If you have spent any time poking around my blog, you already know this BUT I am here to admit…I am a crazy dog lady! Our lives revolve around our little squish face fur babies and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Let me officially introduce you to my pack and then we will get down to business…TREATS!

This is my big baby Draco. He is the whole reason I fell in love with pitbulls. He is a gentle giant, aggressive snuggler and sensitive soul. He was found as a stray when he was a pup and rescued by Friends to the Forlorn. I can’t say enough great things about this rescue. They are just amazing people! He had mange and ringworm which caused him to loose all his hair (Naked Draco!), but they welcomed him to the family and got him cleaned up and ready for a home. It took all of 2 minutes for my husband and I to fall in love with him. He is so smart and SUCH a Daddys Boy! He never lets Tyler out of his sight….ever.

Then came Luna. Oh Luna, little lunatic. She is special through and through. She was found by friends of ours as a tiny pup. She was crossing a very busy street tied up to a dumbbell she was dragging behind her. It hurts my heart to think of where my sweet baby would have ended up had she not been found. Despite what she has been through, she is the HAPPIEST little wiggle butt you’ve ever met. All you have to do is look at her and she wags her tail. She is a trouble maker like you wouldn’t believe. So mischievous. Paws on the counter, knocking over trashcans, unmaking beds, throwing shoes in the toilet…you name it and she’s done it…all while wagging her tail. Like her brother, she is an aggressive snuggler and always has to be touching you. Oh and she is totally a loud mouth.

My two baby hippos are spoiled rotten and loved like children. These two peas in a pod travel to work daily with my husband and sleep in our bed at night. They are family.

Okay, okay. Now that you know a little background on my family…lets make doggo treats! These are so easy to whip up and use regular ingredients you probably have in your pantry. My pups gobbled them up in no time!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 3/4 cup Natural Peanut Butter
  • 3/4 cup Chicken Stock
  • 2 Eggs

Instructions:

Combine eggs, chicken stock and peanut butter in a bowl. Slowly add the flour and work until combined. Roll out dough on a clean floured surface. It will be a bit sticky so I used flour on my rolling pin and hands to keep it from sticking. Cut out desired shapes and transfer to a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes at 350dg.

These doggy cookies stay fresh in an air tight container for about two weeks. I’m sure they would last even longer if you put them in the fridge.

Bad dog trying to eat the cookies straight from the counter. She couldn’t help herself!
