Update Your Medicine Cabinet

img_2502

Nothing screams “I was built in the 90’s” quite like a mirrored front medicine cabinet. (Well, maybe blue checkered floor…but we fixed that here remember?) You can always rip that sucker out of the wall, but what do you do after that? I’m not about patching giant holes in drywall. If you have been living anywhere with your eyes open recently, you’ve probably seen some open shelving a time or two! I know I’m a HUGE fan! I’ve even contemplated plotted how to rip down my upper kitchen cabinets and add open shelving. (Don’t ask me where I am going to hide all my crap in order to display pretty dishes, but I’ll figure it out!)  Continue reading

DIY Floating Shelves

img_2192

Do y’all have anything in your home that you are super proud of? These shelves are mine! I never really built anything from scratch (Ikea furniture doesn’t count apparently), until I decided to tackle these babies. We have this huge wall above our soaking tub that was going to need some love and I wanted something for a little extra storage. I’ll be honest, these are more about displaying fun knick-knacks and less about storage at this point, but I seriously love them! I did a lot of research and read about 10 tutorials before drawing up my own version and getting to work! Today, I’m sharing how I built these beauties! Continue reading

Farmhouse Mirror Frame {DIY}

img_1915-1Mirrors draw attention in bathrooms. I mean, everyone that walks in is most likely going to look at it…that’s what they are there for! When we were on the “blow up the entire master bathroom and start over” kick (oh you missed that part? Read about it here), I had great ideas of ripping down our rectangular builder grade mirror and replacing it with two pretty round mirrors over each sink. Two things…mirrors are expensive and patching drywall is really not that fun. Can you imagine the mess I would have made ripping this thing down? So…why not keep the darn thing and jazz it up a bit!? A few brainstorming and pinterest-ing sessions later and voila! The farmhouse mirror frame was born. It’s like a whole new mirror but at a fraction of the cost. Twenty-five buckaroos to be exact.  Continue reading

Master Bathroom Reveal! (Part 1)

img_1845

I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news. Which one ya wanna hear first? I’ll share the bad first. Our master bathroom was UGLY. I mean seriously super ugly when we moved in. Our dog wouldn’t even go in there it was so bad. When purchasing the house, we had plans to do a complete gut job and start over. We even had someone come out and give us some grand ideas about a claw foot tub and a heated floor. It was dreamy. I was excited! But…you know how it is moving in to your first home. We need a new couch, the whole exterior of the house needs to be painted, we have a yard that needs to be sodded…I mean our to-do list is a mile and a half long and filled with projects that ain’t cheap! So here I went with my pinterest-ing and doodling and home depo-ing and planned a spectacular bathroom redo. I showed my ideas to my husband and he thought I was slightly crazy. “Paint the tile floor?” I admit, it does sound crazy. But hey, remember when I said it was ugly? I figured it wasn’t going to get any worse so I might as well take a swing at it. Well, now we have a bathroom we kinda sorta love. And that, my friends, is the good news! Continue reading
