My husband is a die hard “Real Tree Person.” Even the mention of a fake tree in our house is sure to muster up eye rolls and protesting. The first year we were married, I was so excited to pick out a tree. We headed to a tree farm, tied that baby up and threw it in the back of the Jeep with the top down…this is the South after all. We drove it home and our dog peed on it immediately. I mean, it IS a tree I guess. We strung it up with lights and hung up our four ornaments, leaving quite a few empty branches. We loved it anyway. This will be the fourth Christmas Tyler and I have spent together, and our tree this year is the prettiest to date. With that being said, our top lights just stopped working and Luna is trying to eat the fake berries off of it. I guess you can’t win them all, but no one has peed on it and we have added a few ornaments to our collection. I would call that success! Continue reading
I don’t know about y’all, but I just love those antique farmhouse style corbels floating around. Such a pretty touch added to a shelf, used as bookends or just styled on a mantle. I recently found some beautiful ones in a local antique shop, but quickly put them right back where I found them when I saw the price tag. EIGHTY bucks. NOPE. With exterior painting going on at our place, every penny must. be. pinched. Continue reading
Nothing makes a room feel more finished than hanging up curtains. Considering we currently have two rooms in our house with curtains hanging, we’ve got a ways to go! (Don’t worry, we have blinds!) If you have been following along with my sunroom renovations you have seen how many windows we have! It was one of the things that really made me fall in love with our house. Floor to ceiling windows make for a really pretty sunroom! But friends, curtain rods, especially LONG curtains rods, can really break the bank! And that’s before you even shop for your curtains to hang on them. What’s a girl to do? Continue reading
I’ve already shared how I so quickly fell in love with my sunroom! If you missed it, start here! The floor to ceiling windows along three walls are bright and beautiful and the perfect lookout tower for my pups to spy on the neighbors and bark at the squirrels. With that kind of view, I knew that fourth wall needed something special! Shelves are pretty, but required me to buy MORE stuff to fill them. A large piece of art would have filled the space, but is slightly boring. I was perusing Instagram when I saw these babies. Embroidery hoops! So sweet and so pretty and the perfect touch to finish off this room. This project was originally featured by Erin over at Cotton Stem right here! Seriously, do yourself a favor and check out her blog. It is amazing and so jam packed with beautiful interior inspiration! So…thank you Erin for this idea! Continue reading
I have to say, one of my talents in life is knowing when “it’s the one.” I would never label myself as being incredibly opinionated, but when I know, I know. Ya know? For example, I had only known Tyler for about 3 months when we were rushing around getting ready for a concert. We stopped for fast food so we could make it on time and he made fun of my kids meal. “I could eat that in one bite.” Sure enough, he bought a McDonald’s cheeseburger and folded it over twice and shoved the whole thing in his mouth. As he was chewing, he pulled out the pickle and mouthed to me “I don’t like pickles.” Yep, he was the one. Continue reading
Do y’all have anything in your home that you are super proud of? These shelves are mine! I never really built anything from scratch (Ikea furniture doesn’t count apparently), until I decided to tackle these babies. We have this huge wall above our soaking tub that was going to need some love and I wanted something for a little extra storage. I’ll be honest, these are more about displaying fun knick-knacks and less about storage at this point, but I seriously love them! I did a lot of research and read about 10 tutorials before drawing up my own version and getting to work! Today, I’m sharing how I built these beauties! Continue reading
For the love of lime green. Someone previously living in this house apparently LOVED it so much they painted multiple rooms with it. I did not appreciate feeling the need to wear sunglasses in my house, so this was the first thing to go. Aside from painting, I decided my guest room needed a fun touch. Something more than paint, but less than ripping down walls.
Shiplap. Anyone with a little Joanna Gains in ya can appreciate my love of it! But sadly this is not Waco and I can assure you I have no shiplap hiding behind my 90’s walls. I looked up real shiplap and very quickly decided my husband would not appreciate eating ramen noodles to make room for it in the budget. A few pinterest searches later, and I had my decision. Faux shiplap. It was happening. And it had to happen now. Continue reading
