Y’all, I found my new favorite hang out spot! When Amy contacted me and invited me to come hang out in her little shop called Project Studio (located in Marietta, Georgia), I knew I was going to love it! A coffee in one hand and paint brush in the other…sounds like a great Saturday morning to me! It is the perfect spot to get your creative juices flowing and create something adorable for your home, classroom or business. Continue reading
Now that we hired a painter and picked out colors…it was time to let the magic happen! Painting began while I was working, so you can imagine my excitement driving home that day. I was literally holding my breath driving through the neighborhood! What the heck was I about to come home to? Was it going to be amazing? Was the white too bright? Too yellow? Did it look okay with our brown roof? Was I going to cry tears of joy or tears of regret? Was it a good idea or bad idea to paint that brick? I know, I know. Paint is paint and paint can be changed…for a pretty penny! We had to get this right the first time! Continue reading
It has been a whole entire year since we started this journey of buying a house and slowly turning it into our home. It seems like just yesterday that Tyler and I were digging through boxes in our garage the night we moved in. He was looking for a cable to hook up our TV…and I was looking for my underwear so I could actually shower. Priorities, right? Thankfully, we had some wonderful family members, a super large vehicle, and a lot of coffee to get all of our stuff moved in one day. My awesome mother and my sweet mother-in-law scrubbed the kitchen and floors, my dad and Tyler took multiple trips to get all our furniture, Draco ran around his new backyard to patrol the area and I was….I don’t know, maybe bossing everyone around? HA. It was somewhat of a blur. We went to bed that night, on our mattress on the guest bedroom floor, super excited and so very tired. We had made it. We bought our first house! Continue reading
I have to say, one of my talents in life is knowing when “it’s the one.” I would never label myself as being incredibly opinionated, but when I know, I know. Ya know? For example, I had only known Tyler for about 3 months when we were rushing around getting ready for a concert. We stopped for fast food so we could make it on time and he made fun of my kids meal. “I could eat that in one bite.” Sure enough, he bought a McDonald’s cheeseburger and folded it over twice and shoved the whole thing in his mouth. As he was chewing, he pulled out the pickle and mouthed to me “I don’t like pickles.” Yep, he was the one. Continue reading
“What? You can paint tile floors?” Yes. “Does the paint stick?” Yep. “Does it scratch?” Nope. “How the heck did you do that?” Well, read on friends. This one will change your life. Well, as least it will change that ugly floor of yours! Continue reading
Back with another episode of “How I Salvaged my Ugly Bathroom!” Let’s talk about how I gave my vanity cabinets a total makeover, shall we? Do you remember where my cabinets started? They are wooden, but painted a terrible brown. Not even a pretty brown, but just plain ugly brown. This is where we started… Continue reading
DIY is in my blood.
When I was little, if I broke something I never got upset because I knew my dad could fix it. I once witnessed him rig a dust pan to the front of our washing machine to catch the leak and trickle it into a bucket. Another time, I ran over my favorite sterling silver ring in the gym parking lot and he took a solder gun and warmed it enough to bend it back to shape. When I leaving for PT school, I told him I wanted a new bed and he went out in the garage and built me one that would make Pottery Barn green with envy. This man has talent. Continue reading
