{Before + After} Exterior

{Before + After} Exterior

Now that we hired a painter and picked out colors…it was time to let the magic happen! Painting began while I was working, so you can imagine my excitement driving home that day. I was literally holding my breath driving through the neighborhood! What the heck was I about to come home to? Was it going to be amazing? Was the white too bright? Too yellow? Did it look okay with our brown roof? Was I going to cry tears of joy or tears of regret? Was it a good idea or bad idea to paint that brick? I know, I know. Paint is paint and paint can be changed…for a pretty penny! We had to get this right the first time! Continue reading “{Before + After} Exterior”

Homeowneversary Recap

Homeowneversary Recap

It has been a whole entire year since we started this journey of buying a house and slowly turning it into our home. It seems like just yesterday that Tyler and I were digging through boxes in our garage the night we moved in. He was looking for a cable to hook up our TV…and I was looking for my underwear so I could actually shower. Priorities, right? Thankfully, we had some wonderful family members, a super large vehicle, and a lot of coffee to get all of our stuff moved in one day. My awesome mother and my sweet mother-in-law scrubbed the kitchen and floors, my dad and Tyler took multiple trips to get all our furniture, Draco ran around his new backyard to patrol the area and I was….I don’t know, maybe bossing everyone around? HA. It was somewhat of a blur. We went to bed that night, on our mattress on the guest bedroom floor, super excited and so very tired. We had made it. We bought our first house! Sunroom Reveal

Sunroom Reveal

I have to say, one of my talents in life is knowing when “it’s the one.” I would never label myself as being incredibly opinionated, but when I know, I know. Ya know? For example, I had only known Tyler for about 3 months when we were rushing around getting ready for a concert. We stopped for fast food so we could make it on time and he made fun of my kids meal. “I could eat that in one bite.” Sure enough, he bought a McDonald’s cheeseburger and folded it over twice and shoved the whole thing in his mouth. As he was chewing, he pulled out the pickle and mouthed to me “I don’t like pickles.” Yep, he was the one. Continue reading “Sunroom Reveal”

Update Your Medicine Cabinet

Update Your Medicine Cabinet

Nothing screams “I was built in the 90’s” quite like a mirrored front medicine cabinet. (Well, maybe blue checkered floor…but we fixed that here remember?) You can always rip that sucker out of the wall, but what do you do after that? I’m not about patching giant holes in drywall. If you have been living anywhere with your eyes open recently, you’ve probably seen some open shelving a time or two! I know I’m a HUGE fan! I’ve even contemplated plotted how to rip down my upper kitchen cabinets and add open shelving. (Don’t ask me where I am going to hide all my crap in order to display pretty dishes, but I’ll figure it out!)  Continue reading “Update Your Medicine Cabinet”
